Hungarian Sauerkraut Soup

Ingredients for 4 persons approx.

    • 300 grams sauerkraut
    • 200 g of smoked sausage hard (e.g. Coriso)
    • 100 grams of bacon
    • 1 small container sour cream
    • 1 bay leaf
    • 1 tablespoon chili powder
    • 2 bouillon cubes1 tablespoon flour
    • 1 small onion
    • 1 clove garlic
    • ½ lemon
    • 1 teaspoon black pepper
    • 4 tbsp sunflower oil


    A tablespoon of oil in the pan and baking bacon herein, then add the onions and fry for a few minutes.

    Remove the pan from the heat.

    Add the paprika and stir, then add ½ cup water.

    The pan to the heat transfer, add the sauerkraut and let simmer, stirring constantly.

    Then add 1 liter of water and the bouillon cubes, pepper, crushed garlic, bay leaf and lemon zest and add the whole boil for 20 minutes.

    After 10 to 20 minutes cooking time, add the sliced ​​sausage.

    Then the ½ cup water mixed with the sour cream and flour, add it and let it cook.
